Covid-19 Information

Update – April 22, 2020

General Information

At present, Timberline Lodge is closed for guests and all on-sight programming.  We do have staff who live on campus and are available if there is a physical need.  All staff phones have also been routed to reach individual cell phones.  Feel free to reach out with normal business numbers if you need to contact a specific department.

Staff have been healthy and have stayed busy working on projects around campus as well as finishing the remainder of the 2019-2020 Bible School and Discipleship Program on-line.

We are looking forward to being able to open up the campus again and trust the Lord’s timing with the ministry that has always been His and never ours!  Please pray for opportunities to share the hope that we have within our community and beyond as well as for wisdom with all the practical implications of functioning under Colorado’s stay-at-home order.

Summer Programming

At present we are planning to welcome our first summer youth conferences to The Lodge in early June.  Of course, there is uncertainty on both the church group side as well as on Timberline’s side as we seek to follow the directives and mandates handed down to us from the local, state, and national authorities.

The staff have been functioning with the assumption that guests will be able to come enjoy a physically and spiritually refreshing time here in the mountains.  The value of getting away and spending time focusing on the One who holds all things in one of the most beautiful parts of His creation seems higher than usual within the present context.  Timberline has begun to work through the various alterations to our program that may be required due to the nearness of the pandemic and the general concern that our guests may have.  The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) are working with resident camps like ours to make sure that the best care is given to guests while also limiting the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak.

We are still looking for summer volunteers to fill a number of open summer positions at The Lodge as well as paid positions for registered nurses or certified nursing assistants.   If there is a period of time when guests are not on campus due to the virus situation, summer volunteers will participate in a work-based discipleship program around the campus and with Timberline staff.  For more information contact Peter Hammond at program@timberlinelodge.org

Bible School and Discipleship Program 2020-2021

Many potential students of the class of 2021 may be wondering what our plans are for next year’s Bible School and whether they should apply for the program or not.

We are excited to welcome a new group of students in the fall of 2020 according to the posted schedule, knowing that many final decisions may be out of our hands and some individuals from other countries may have unique restrictions as they look to come to America.

We want to encourage you to go ahead and apply and even enroll for next year’s discipleship program before available spaces fill.  At the same time, we understand the concern that some may have and as a result of this, we have decided to make these adjustments to our enrollment process:

  • The typical $1000 non-refundable deposit for locking in a place in the Bible School will be changed to a refundable deposit if the reason for not being able to attend is related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • While we usually only take one-semester students after July, we will allow students to apply and be accepted for a single semester at any time.  This could be especially helpful for students considering going to another Torchbearer center in a different country, but unsure of their ability or willingness to cross international borders in September as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.

  • As is always the case, please call our Bible School team if you have any specific questions about Bible School next year.

Winter Guests and 2021 Summer Guest Programming

We hope to be past the brunt of the pandemic by next winter and we are excited to have our campus fully open to guests for ski trips as well as our recently added “Winter Ski Conference” which will be taking place at the end of December.

We are also accepting inquiries for youth retreats next summer and look forward to running at full strength.

Financials

As is the case with many ministries like ours, this pandemic has put significant pressure on the finances of the organization.

We would love to invite you to partner with us financially as you look for ways to serve the Lord and His work in the area of youth, Bible training, and discipleship.  We are also excited about the additional acreage that the Lord provided for us last year through many gifts.  Though it doesn’t seem like the most obvious time to continue in the vision that we have for this property, we also know that God is not bound to do things the “obvious way”!  If you would like more information on how you can be a part of this exciting journey into the future of the ministry, please reach out to our director Dan Thomas at director@timberlinelodge.org.
