Peak to peak Bike Tour
August 7th - 13th, 2011
A 7-day (5 day biking) road bike tour through some of Colorado's most scenic by-ways.
We will begin the trip at Timberline Lodge in Fraser, CO and then drive towards Pagosa Springs, CO. Beginning just east of Pagosa Springs, the tour will head over 4 mountain passes and end near Buena Vista, CO.The total mileage is about 260 miles with the longest day at 69 miles and the shortest at 40 miles. We will camp at various locations during the ride and enjoy evening discussions by the fire and Bible based devotions in the morning. This is a supported ride, meaning riders camping gear and food will be transported for them.

Register at 9:00am at Timberline Lodge. Pack bike and luggage and drive to Pagosa Springs. Depart at 11:00am. Arrive at Wolf Creek Pass in the afternoon. There is an option to bike down the west side of the pass. Camp at East Fork Campground that is located east of Pagosa Springs.Day 2 - Monday, August 8th
Morning devotion time while breakfast is being prepared. Today’s bike is 42 miles with an 8-mile climb to the summit of Wolf Creek Pass (elevation: 10,850 ft). The descent to South Fork is long and at times, very fast. Intended camping is on the Rio Grande River, north of South Fork. There will be an evening teaching and time of sharing after dinner.Day 3 – Tuesday, August 9th
Morning devotion time while breakfast is being prepared. Today’s bike is 46 miles. The route today winds through the town of Creede and is relatively flat until the last 14 miles. At this point it begins to climb. The bike ends at the top of Spring Creek Pass (elevation: 10,901). Planned camping is on top of Spring Creek Pass. There will be an evening teaching and time of sharing after dinner.Day 4 – Wednesday, August 10th
Morning devotion time while breakfast is being prepared. The morning bike begins with a short climb up to Slumgullion Pass (elevation: 11, 361). Bikers will then experience one of the largest and most scenic descents into Lake City where you can replenish water and enjoy this quaint town. The remainder of the 64-mile journey includes travel beside a river and more ascents. Today’s bike ends at Blue Mesa Reservoir where bikers can wash off in the cool waters. There will be an evening teaching and time of sharing after dinner.Day 5 – Thursday, August 11th
Morning devotion time while breakfast is being prepared. Today’s 58-mile ride heads east through the town of Gunnison and towards Monarch pass. There is only one climb today, but it is a big one! The climb to the summit of Monarch Pass (elevation: 11,312) is 8 miles long. The campsite is 2 miles from the summit. There will be an evening teaching and time of sharing after dinner.Day 6 – Friday, August 12th
Morning devotion time while breakfast is being prepared. Today is the final day of biking. The start of this 42-mile bike is downhill! The route continues to head east and then turns north towards the town of Buena Vista. We will camp near Princeton Hot Springs. In the afternoon, we will plan on soaking in the warm waters of the Hot Springs. There will be a final evening of teaching and time of sharing after dinner.For more information
