Bible School Semester Detail

Semester 1

The Torchbearer Bible School and Discipleship Program at Timberline Lodge is an interdenominational, college level educational program that gives students a broad and deep understanding of the Bible, and how to study and apply God’s word. Excellent instruction is provided by an adjunct faculty from around the world, and all have special expertise in Bible education. During the Fall semester, students focus on balanced development of mind, spirit and body through a combination of Bible instruction and assignments; prayer, worship and reflection; work duties and service to others; and, participation in outdoor adventures that only the Rocky Mountains can provide. A key element of the program at Timberline is discipleship, and in the first semester, students begin to develop a disciple relationship with a covenant partner, who is a member of the Timberline staff.

Semester 2
Because of the small school size (up to 24 students), the focus of the second semester is on individualized development of students in their Christian walk through one-to-one discipleship, guided study, and service to Timberline guests and the community. Students are assigned an individual discipler who will mentor their student and review progress in their faith walk. Much of the emphasis in this phase of the Bible School and Discipleship Program is on development and application of servant leadership skills, so that students are better equipped to serve in a variety of ways in the church. To develop those skills, students assist in worship, lead work activities, and host and guide church youth group participants who come to Timberline as part of our Guest Program.
